FORGET THE COFFEE
It's warm, spicy, incredibly sweet, and the perfect non-alcoholic nightcap before getting cosy in bed.
Okay, I finally had a moment, so I just tried making that Rooibos Chai Date Ball variation.
In retrospect, when I think about it objectively, Chai Tea is not dissimilar to Milk Tart; it is mild and comforting, therefore, definitely to my taste, just like Vanilla ice cream.
Yet for all its spices, white 'chocolate' and actual tea - it's just a more expensive and labour-intensive doppelgänger for the original Cape Malay version.
So, no, this will not be the fifth official variation to go on sale either.
I do, however, have an order coming up for five batches of a variety of Date Balls for a third client (with a particularly sweet tooth) before Christmas.
At that point, I'll make one of those an experimental 'Peppermint Crisp' attempt.
Yet, for now, I'm getting seriously bored of Date Ball variations.
Next up (in the sweet department) I want to make a classic baked cheesecake and top it with caramelised pineapple and roasted coconut slivers.
I had it only once before, and it was incredible; unfortunately, I haven't found it since, so I think it's time to experiment with that next.
