LOVE THAT GROWS

"We are each of us angels with only one wing. And we can only fly embracing each other." ~ Luciano De Creschenzo.

Some mornings are easier than others.

However, crying myself awake meant that this morning would not be one of those for me.

Fortunately, I spotted Billie Eilish's song, 'Birds of a Feather' again.

I placed it back on the 'On Repeat' playlist - and started salvaging the day with some cathartic release while feeding myself and the two girls.

Then I discovered the start of a SCOBY growing in a recent attempt to grow one from scratch, and suddenly, I was reminded why I've done and continue to do whatever I still do in my life:

For the joy of witnessing things grow and flourish.

Let me take a moment to appreciate growth despite forces beyond our control constantly threatening to tear all we hold dear into pieces.
It's good to remember that growth can sometimes look like decay, as in the humble potato.

Though the foliage is dying away, the potatoes are hardening up to be harvested, so the growth is hidden underground.

'Faith Like Potatoes'.
Sometimes, it's all about the roots - like the tiny little nodes that have developed into long roots on this little pineapple crown.
Or spotting new aerial roots on a recently conditioned orchid.
Not to mention the tomatoes and how far they've come since getting planted into the neglected soil.
Yet, mostly, I'm grateful for the love and comfort that has organically grown between us.

And this is the reason for my tears - witnessing hard hearts that cruelly hate the vulnerability in others, especially the soft-hearted.

I long for and pray to God for a home environment where love and affection are encouraged as a norm, not crushed and consistently ridiculed.
